26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
Hello again all of you out there in netdom.
Verse twenty-six tells us that the Holy Spirit helps us when we need it. And for most of us, that is quite often. As an example, this verse talks about what is commonly referred to as speaking in tongues. When you don't know what to pray for, pray in the spirit. It might sound like nonsense, but it isn't.
Twenty-seven confirms that it's not nonsense. This verse tells us that the Father understands what the Spirit is saying through us. So, even though it sounds like nonsense to our human minds, it is really a language that only God knows.
Twenty-eight promises us something wonderful. God causes everything to work together for good for those called to His purposes. This means that if you love God and are trying your best to serve him, then no matter what happens, God will use it for your good. Even when you don't realize it.
Twenty-nine shows us a portion of God's power. He knew, even before the world was created, which people would choose him and which would reject him. This does NOT mean he forced them to go either way. It's like life and creation is a movie. God's already seen it and so he knows what's going to happen. But he doesn't force our decisions upon us. And, knowing who his people would be, he sent his son to set an example for us so that we could know how God want's us to live.
Finally verse thirty. God knew who we were, chose us, called us, made us righteous, and gave us His glory. This glory was Jesus Christ. It's through our faith in him that we are made righteous.
