16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.
Okay, so we've covered most of the body. Now for some extra protection. The shield of faith...which protects us from the fiery arrows aimed at us by satan. But what are these arrows you may be asking. And how is faith like a shield? Or what are we supposed to have faith about? Well, I intend to answer those questions here today.
First, we'll talk about what we're supposed to have faith in. Well, go to any site that has Bible verses or check out a concordance, and look up the word faith. All throughout the Bible you'll find examples of peoples faith and the message is always the same. Because of their faith in God and His promises, they received salvation from their enemies. When Abraham believed in God's promise, he was called God's friend.
Faith is the evidence of things unseen and hoped for. And when you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, you will be saved. When we put our faith in the death and ressurection of Christ, we receive eternal salvation. We have to have faith in Christ and God to make it in this world. If we don't, then our souls will perish when our human bodies die. But, "if any man be in Christ he is a new creature..." When we put faith in Christ and invite him to be our lord and savior, we are transformed on the inside into a living soul with eternal hope.
Now, as for faith being like a shield. If you have faith in God, that He can do anything, and also that His will is what is best, and you believe that wholeheartedly, then Satan cannot touch you. The greatest weapon of satan is deception. He will try to tell us that we're not really saved, or there's no possible way that God can forgive what we did or we're not good enough for God. However you don't have to believe a word satan says. For, "He is the father of lies. There is not an ounce of truth in him." So don't worry, he has no idea what he's talking about. If we have faith in that and faith in God's promises then satan's lies can't touch us.
So, keep that shield up and don't believe in satan's lies.
